Miss Juneteenth Nevada Eddye-Nyiel Pitts, is a locally known entrepreneur and professional dancer. She graduated from Las Vegas Academy of the Arts as a dance major. Eddye-Nyiel is passionate about giving and being of service in her community. In addition to building her dance career, she has performed at the Smith Center and various productions throughout Las Vegas, including the Las Vegas Art Center, Nevada Ballet Theater, and has performed in Broadway shows. She has a strong desire to volunteer and give back, actively participating as a Girl Scout Ambassador. Eddye-Nyiel has dedicated her time to volunteering at UNLV Women's Clinic, Food Banks, Americorp, Springs Preserve, Discovery Children's Museum, and various other organizations.
She also serves on the Girl Scout Media Committee, making guest appearances on radio, news stations, billboards and many more. This pass year she was sworn in as a Peer Counselor for her school district, where she aims to create and be a voice for her peers representing them in court. She excels in leadership roles and prior to graduating was elected as the Black Student Union President (BSU) during the school year, representing all black students at her school. As BSU President, her goal was to invite Black Leaders from the community to speak on campus, providing knowledge, resources, scholarships, and HBCU tours to students. Eddye-Nyiel has developed strong marketing skills through promoting the BSU on social media platforms like Instagram.
Despite facing significant adversity and challenges, she finds encouragement in the support received from the community. She graduated this year with a 3.5 GPA, earning the highest diploma type offered by the state. Eddye-Ny’iel will be attending the Historically Black College or University (HBCU) of Clark Alanta University majoring in Mass Media Arts with a minor in law to bring diversity to the industry and amplify the voices of those who look like her. Eddye-Nyiel sees herself as a resilient student who successfully completed and endured a worldwide pandemic. She understands that life presents challenges, but believes in the importance of perseverance and resilience to achieve her goals.
